THE FACTS:
- The deadline for switching to narrowband is January 1,2013
- The FCC will not grant applications for new voice operations or applications to expand the authorized contour of existing stations that use 25 kHz channels. Only narrowband authorizations will be granted.
- If you have two-way radio equipment unable to operate on 12.5 kHz channel bandwidths, you will have to upgrade it.
- If you currently have an FCC licence, which has not been switched to narrowband, you will have to modify it.
- Most of the two-way radios currently used today are already compliant and are already capable of meeting the Narrowband requirement. HAVING TO PURCHASE NEW RADIOS FOR MOST TWO-WAY RADIO USERS WILL NOT BE NECESSARY!
- FCC does not require you to change your radio equipment to Digital.
- There is no deadline to make a transition to 6.25 kHz bandwidth.
- No digital standard has been approved by FCC. If you change to Digital your are risking equipment obsolesence in near future.
Note: To move to narrowband operations, organizations must apply for new frequencies or modify existing licenses. For more information on upgrading your existing FCC licence or applying for a new FCC licence, please contact our customer support at 800-895-5122
